Tome is designed with privacy at its core. We believe your notes, ideas, and thoughts are yours alone. That's why we built Tome as a local-first application — your data stays on your device, period.

2. Data We Don't Collect

We do not collect:

• Your notes, tasks, or any content you create
• Personal information like your name or email (no account required)
• Usage analytics or telemetry
• Browsing history or behavioral data
• Location data

3. Data Storage

All your notes and application data are stored locally on your Mac. We use your device's native storage capabilities to keep your data secure. This means:

• Your data is protected by your Mac's built-in security features
• No cloud sync means no cloud vulnerabilities
• You have full control over your data at all times

4. Website Analytics

This website (tome.app) may use privacy-respecting analytics to understand general traffic patterns. We do not use cookies for tracking. Any analytics we use are configured to not collect personal information or track individual users.

5. Third-Party Services

The Tome application does not connect to any third-party services. It works entirely offline. The only network connection the app may make is to check for updates, which does not transmit any personal data.

6. Optional Sync Service

Tome offers an optional sync service as a separate add-on. This feature is entirely opt-in — if you don't enable it, your notes remain exclusively on your device.

If you choose to enable sync:

• Your notes are end-to-end encrypted before leaving your device
• Only you hold the encryption keys — we cannot read your content
• Synced data is stored on secure servers solely for synchronization purposes
• You can disable sync and delete all synced data at any time

You can use Tome without the sync service and retain all core functionality with your data stored locally.

7. Payments

If you purchase Tome, payment processing is handled by secure third-party payment processors. We do not store your payment information. The payment processor's privacy policy applies to that transaction.

8. Data Backup

Since your data is stored locally, you are responsible for backing up your notes. We recommend using your Mac's Time Machine or another backup solution to protect against data loss.

9. Your Rights

Because we don't collect your data, there's nothing for us to delete, export, or provide to you. Your data is already entirely in your possession on your device. You can delete the application and all its data at any time.

10. Children's Privacy

Tome does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. Since we don't collect personal information from anyone, this applies equally to all users.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
